Impulse talks on the island lakeshore in the south of Berlin:
Verband Christlicher Hoteliers e.V. (VCH) launched a newly initiated series of theological and social dialog and exchange at the Evangelische Bildungsstätte on Schwanenwerder with a good response.
The Verband Christlicher Hoteliers e.V. (VCH) and HOSPES GmbH, which manages conference centers in Mitte and Brandenburg in addition to the educational center in Berlin-Zehlendorf, invited around 30 selected representatives of the Christian hotel industry, church leaders and other institutions from all over Germany to take part in the discussion.
The welcoming address by VCH President Stefanie Jüngerkes, VCH GmbH Managing Director Petra Rieckmann and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Henning von Wedel, was followed by a lecture by the renowned theologian and publicist Prof. Dr. Johanna Haberer. Under the motto “Betrayed Peoples”, she addressed the massive conflicts in the Middle East and reported on her personal experiences on the ground as a representative of the pastorate at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension on the Mount of Olives.
In the course of the constructive exchange of ideas that followed, the participants called for a never one-sided, but rather differentiated formation of social opinion that includes empathy for all innocent victims of the current situation and never gives up hope for reconciliation between different cultures and political systems.
In future, the impulse talks that have been started will be continued under the name “fireside chats” on relevant theological and cultural topics at the VCH Protestant Education Center on Schwanenwerder and in various VCH hotels in loose succession.
